Plastic saves lives!
Over the past 9 months, the “City of the Future” project has been implementing the “Plastic Saves Lives” project. The eco-initiative was to collect as much HDPE plastic (plastic bottle caps) as possible, recycle it, and use the proceeds to buy an ambulance for the military.
During the project, 11 tons of plastic were collected – about 5,500,000 pieces of caps. More than 50 settlements from all over Ukraine took part in the project.
The ambulance was purchased and delivered to Ukraine from abroad. On January 21, 2023, it was presented in Odesa. Today, the vehicle is already in service with a military unit performing its combat missions in the Bakhmut sector.
The purchase of the vehicle was sponsored by environmentally conscious Ukrainians who collected plastic caps and sent them to Odesa for sorting.
The “Plastic Saves Lives” project was also supported by the Odesa Regional Military Administration, which equipped the ambulance with the necessary medical supplies.
It should be noted that on the day of the ambulance presentation on January 21, an Eco-route was also held: Odesa residents brought recyclable materials to certain locations where they were collected by project activists. The proceeds from the sale of recyclable materials were used to complete the ambulance. In addition, many people also sent humanitarian aid to our defenders.
On the day of the event, journalists from 4 city TV channels – Pershyi Miskyi, Channel 7, GRAD and Suspilne. Odesa, as well as journalists from the STB TV channel, who filmed a story for the only telethon were present.
It should be noted that the Plastic Saves Lives project continues!
